WMSF backs the Cardiff Mindsports Festival

The Millennium Stadium, Cardiff extends its sporting prowess

PLYMOUTH, United Kingdom (June, 2013) – Mindsports (International), part of the Living it Loving it Ltd. group of companies has selected Cardiff to host the UK’s first Mind Sports Festival.  Taking place from September 13th – 15th, the City has been chosen above others due to its easy accessibility from across the UK and for the opportunity to host the event in one of the UK’s great sporting venues, the Millennium Stadium.

The Stadium has established itself as a ‘Must play, Must visit’ venue.  It has already hosted a selection of competitions for sporting bodies in the forms of Rugby Union, Rugby League, Football, Motor Sports and Boxing throughout its fourteen year history.  Now, in 2013, mind sports can be added to the list.

Set aside from the pitch and in the Stadium’s fantastic conference facilities, the Cardiff Mind Sports Festival will deliver 3-days of non-stop mind sports including the likes of Scrabble, Chess, eSports and Magic: the Gathering.

The dates for the festival were carefully selected in order to give festival attendees maximum entertainment value, with Cardiff also set to be bustling with cricket fans over the weekend due to the City hosting The Ashes on Saturday 14th September at the SWALEC Stadium.

Dave Brannan, CEO of Mindsports (International) feels the atmosphere will be electric, “Our Mindsports Festivals have collected a robust following so far this year and I believe the opportunity to compete at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium will be a great attraction for Mind Sports enthusiasts from around the world.  This is further boosted by The Ashes, also taking place during the same weekend, making Cardiff the only place to be mid-September!”

Due to the busy nature of the weekend in the City, Mind Sports (International) have already chosen and set aside the usual high standard accommodation for attendees.  The Park Inn by Radisson Cardiff City Centre is as central as its name suggests and is just a few minutes’ walk from the Millennium Stadium.  Each comfortable room is home to a flat screen TV, power showers and laptop safes.  There is also ample car parking space on site.

An obvious pull for both local and national mind sports players, this festival will draw international attention to the Mind Sports capabilities that enthusiastically come out of Wales and the UK.  It is also a fantastic opportunity to compete in one of the UK’s most respected sporting venues.
